In 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it was the top-streamed track during the course of 6 months. It was a combination of reggaeton and pop that not only drew attention to Latin Music, but also reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two tracks that were mostly in the Spanish and 2016 saw four. However, during the heights of Despacito's fame in 2017 there were 19 predominantly Spanish songs that were included in the top 100. Then in 2020 the number was 41. After Justin Bieber's remix in two languages to Despacito (2017) well-known musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton performers including Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna and Maluma in Medellin (2019). From the beginning of the year 2020, some musicians from reggaeton felt dissatisfied with the direction it was moving towards the mainstream. Rauw Alajandro is a part of a new generation looking to alter the direction of. He often incorporated elements from electronic dance music and other styles.
